I saw myself
in the crystal blue
with salt water
in my mouth
with salt water
in my eyes
with coral scratching
my knees
with blood dissipating
in seas
I saw myself
with sand
like freckles
and crust
with skin
like scales
and speck
I saw myself.
thank god,
I saw myself.
I nearly forgot.

Very nice. Having been attacked by a rip tide before, I understand the feeling here.

I love this poem a lot. So simple, the words and structure, yet so powerful. Or, perhaps the simplicity is what makes it powerful. It has no pretense. It truly touches the heart. Thank you.
