I took a fruit to work with me today.
I wanted it to ripen with the day.
I kept it in my purse.
I had forgotten about the heat.
By noon the fruit was inedible.
I should’ve left it home,
instead.

It’s so hot here, the perfect avocado and peach I bought at the market were overripe by the time I got them into the kitchen. So does your purse now smell like a plum or an apricot?
