I hadn’t noticed it before..
the curtains were letting in slivers of light that spread across the Persian carpets.
they slid over the edges of everything, casting long shadows.
I moved my hips in and out of them.
they preferred the warmth, I think.
I followed them to your chest where the movements rising were oddly staccato.
as the sun lowered,
they began to lengthen and disappear.
your eyes began to open-
subtle blurs of green and blue calmed whatever was left.
And I was certain.
