he eats with his entire body
gesturing with his fingers
smoothing strands of beard
smiling fully.
in every breath, resilient
he focuses with eyelets
like copper-coated blades of grass
they are wisps in sudden storms
he lifts them slowly
to meet mine.
distracted,
i react.

I feel embarrassed β like a voyeur! Despite his obvious deceptive and reptilian movement, you are mesmerized and seduced. I’m left not sure whom I want to meet the most!

is it love, or is it pheromones?
is there any way to be 100% sure?
btw – reptiles come on both flavours – i refer to Neil Gaimen, American Gods
