parallel

there was gasp
in pause.
wound up
tightly
mulled-
gnawed.
while tongue
dripped,
dull,
weak
and
numb
in restless
throb.
I meant to-
I did
but jaw
ceased to exist
and throat
so
raw
that lips
lay parallel
and
did not much-
not much
but gape,
and
lament,
silent-
in awe.

  1. Whew! Is it hot in here, or is it just me? Hesitant to comment on this one. I guess I could just say great poem, thanks for sharing and love this. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
